Arai says that although the first half of the season has been very tough, they have now resolved most of the technical problems and can see light at the end of the tunnel. They were a*** to use full ERS boost for some of the Hungarian GP weekend, although not in the race and they are focussed on combustion in their development drive for the rest of the season.

“The most important area for us to concentrate on is the combustion. Current regulations require high efficiency of the combustion so we want to change the characteristic with the chamber design and intake and exhaust system layout. Another issue we will be addressing is reducing mechanical friction by changing the gear train system along with the combustion.

“Not all of our upgrades will be in place for the Belgium Grand Prix; some parts will be applied for Spa and the rest during the weeks that follow. Our plan is to keep improving race-by-race for the remainder of the season.

According to the Italian publication Autosprint Ferrari are set to bolt new developments on its PU which are worth two tokens. This engine which will be the fourth both for Kimi Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel will be introduced in Monza.

The remaining five tokens will be then used in Mexico or the USA. As both Ferrari drivers will have already used four engines out of their allocation by that, they should be set for grid penalties and therefore sent back by ten grid places if they only need to change the ICU.

F1's reigning world champion told the Mirror newspaper recently: "When my dad bought me my first go-kart I actually wanted a motorbike.

"I'd love to test a MotoGP bike just to see what it's like. Naturally I'd know the lines but I'd love to know if I could even do it."

Valentino Rossi, undoubtedly the world's best-known MotoGP rider, said on Thursday that he has spoken with Hamilton in the past.

"I say to him 'You ride a motorcycle, or you have to start from zero?' But he said that he has good skill, he rides a 450 (bike) and everything.

"Our bike is very easy, so we try to kill a little bit of power and for sure it is good if Lewis will try the M1," added Rossi, who rides for Yamaha.
