One of the things Todt is apparently unhappy about is the suggestion that the stewards went easy on Vettel because he’s a championship challenger. A disqualification from the race is thought to have been considered, but ultimately rejected, so that the title fight wouldn’t be too badly affected.

If Todt does decide to bring Vettel before the International Tribunal then there’s a chance he could face further sanctions, most likely a race ban or a hefty fine. Todt has been a staunch advocate for road safety during his time as FIA president, and having one of F1s biggest names getting away with deliberate contact wouldn’t reflect too well on that.

The rumours suggest that the two Red Bull drivers have performance clauses in favour of the drivers – if two of three conditions are met. The first is rumoured to be that the team must provide ‘a winning car’. The second that the team must finish in the top three in the Constructors’ Championship (which is virtually a given) and the third that the driver must finish in the top five in the Drivers’ Championship. Thus, up until Baku, there was a reasona*** chance that either Daniel or Max would be outside the top five because the two Mercedes and two Ferrari drivers would be ahead of them. However, the team did not have a winning car, so two of the three conditions had not been met.

Daniel’s victory in Azerbaijan changes that because the team has won a race – and hence has a winning car. There is an argument, I suppose, that the car is not a winning car because it fluked a win in Baku, but going legal with that argument would be a waste of time and energy.

Ferrari really are a horri*** team right now. Dismissive of interest, completely devoid of any grace, charm or humility, they exude an aggressive arrogance that is bitter in its mien and wholly unpleasant to experience. From team management to press staff through to the aggressive and often looking-for-a-fight mechanics, this bellicose attitude is projected with a focused zeal; and, sadly, it appears to have infected Vettel's on-track demeanour.

Dabartinis sprendimas turi lygiai tokią pačią vertę - jei dėl kažkokių priežasčių, kas neliečia pilotų, jie yra pastatomi į rikiuotės galą, tai bet kokiu atveju nukenčia aukščiausioji hierarchijos dalis.
